Feedback/Feedforward is a two-part series of discussion groups to explore the ideas around art criticism for the future, inviting participants to look back, see where we’ve come from and what we’ve done, and discuss ways forward.
We have invited practitioners in poetry, filmmaking, art, writing, dance, and more, who each possess a range of experiences, cultures, languages, and creative practices, for a public discussion to explore the role and relevance of discussing, writing, and sharing about art in all its forms.
Join art historian, facilitator and lead researcher Kim Dhillon in a discussion with local artists:

- Alana Sayers
We invite all to participate in this discussion but please be aware that Indigenous, Black, and POC voices will be prioritized in this event.
The Integrate Art Society and its Feedback/Feedforward project is situated on traditional and unceded Songhees, Esquimalt, and W̱SÁNEĆ Nations. We strive to remain mindful of the cultural impacts of ongoing colonialism and dispossession of Indigenous peoples as we continue to engage communities and hold events in this region.
VIDEO & AUDIO DOCUMENTATION
Video and audio will be recorded at this event to provide an opportunity for those who may not be able to attend in person to participate on demand, and to ensure opportunities for observation and discussion at a later date. Media release forms will be available on site for participants.
OUR PATH AHEAD
Integrate Arts is taking a step back from its annual festival - to spend more time looking around so we can move forward. With a special interest in artists, curators, and makers in the local area who are black, people of colour and/or Indigenous artists, Integrate Arts thought about making a magazine to document and share the work being produced in the region... But do we need another art magazine? What else is possible? Are all these forms inherited, and do they make sense for black, people of colour, or Indigenous artists? Is there another way forward? If so, what does it look like? Join us for our second and final session of our new research-based project: Feedback/Feedforward.
ACCESSIBILITY:
ALWAYS-AVAILABLE ACCOMMODATIONS
- The event is free.
- The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is accessible by ramp at the front entrance.
- There are four single-stall gender-neutral bathrooms, one of which is wheelchair accessible and has a children's changing table.
- The Gallery offers ample parking in the parking lot and is on the #11, 14, 15, and 22 bus route, with the closest stop being at Fort and Fernwood/Moss.
- Bus tickets are available during the event.
- A certified Mental Health First Aider will be available to assist in case the conversation is triggering for individuals.
- Free snacks and refreshments will be provided, with a range of foods to cater to a range of dietary needs (gf, df, vegan, nut-free).
- An ingredients list will be available.
- Name tags with pronouns will be used for those who want to employ their pronouns.
- A relief room is available if you need a quiet place.
- Microphones will be used by speakers.
- The event will be filmed and made available through Integrate’s social media and website at a later date for those who cannot attend physically.

Accessible Entrance
The main entrance on Wilspencer Place is wheelchair accessible.
Parking
There is able free parking available in the Gallery's parking lot with the entrance on Wilspencer Place.
Bus Transportation
The gallery is located near the following bus stops:
- The Fort and Moss/Fernwood bus stop serving lines 14, 11, and 15.
- The Fort and Linden bus stop serving line 22.
All BC Transit buses are wheelchair accessible. For handyDART, BC Transit’s accessible, door-to-door shared transit service, please contact BC Transit.
Washrooms
There are 4 single-stall gender-neutral bathrooms, one that is wheelchair accessible and one offering a baby change table.

The Integrate Art Society is working to create safer, anti-oppressive spaces. Please be mindful of the following guidelines while you participate at our events:
- Respect your own physical, mental, and emotional boundaries
- Please communicate your needs and speak up if you are uncomfortable
- Remember you are welcome to leave to another space if you need time alone/away/quiet
- Respect the physical, mental, and emotional boundaries of others – ask for consent before engaging in any sort of physical contact
- Avoid making assumptions about the identity, experiences, and/or histories of other people
- Respect the confidentiality of information and narratives shared with you
- Remember, everyone makes mistakes – Apologize and learn from it
- Try to speak with “I” statements and avoid personal attacks when communicating with others about mistakes they made
- Assume that others are acting and speaking from a place of positive intent
- Be aware of the impacts of your own behaviour and take responsibility for what you say and do
- Be open to being approached and talked with if you make a mistake
- Remember that we are gathered to share an open and engaging environment
