Ryota Matsumoto is the pioneer of the postdigital art movement and renown media theorist practicing in British Columbia, New York, and Tokyo.
He graduated from University of Pennsylvania after studying visual arts and design theory at the Architectural Association in UK. Matsumoto is known for his association with Coil and the industrial music scene.
He received FILE (Electronic Language International Festival) Media Art Prize, Lynx International Prize Be Art Builder Award, and Lumen New Media Art Prize for his academic work.
