Event Description

Petroleum By-Product is a trio with a penchant for garbage and glamour, their lush and lavish new wave/post-punk embellishes our trash-based culture. Reviewed as “the most downright fierce electropop since David Bowie was being angular in front of the Berlin Wall,” they are the band you must have to survive these days.

Boats - Armed with a bucket of toy instruments, boundless enthusiasm, and Mat Klachefsky’s high pitched squeal and absurdist lyrics, Boats is the kind of band you probably don’t want your cool friends to see you dancing to.

Hard Drugs - Originally a side-project of a side-project, Hard Drugs is now the musical focus of husband and wife duo Jeffry Lee and Jenni Lee Nelson, and has always been an outlet for them to collaborate with many of their talented friends.

The product of 3 different Northwest Calgary basement bands in 2006, The Shagbots have become one of Calgary’s the most original, enthusiastic, and explosive bands. Influences range from Devo to The Strokes, Joy Division to DFA 1979; their sound has been described as “Catchy, original and completely infectious. In 2009, “We Were Born Tigers,” rocketed onto CMJ’s Top 200 charts for four consecutive weeks, garnishing positive responses from campus radio stations across the continent.
