The Capital City Syncopators is a modern take on prohibition-era jazz and country swing. With lapsteel, electric guitar, Dixieland tenor banjo, washboard, and tuba, this eccentric 5-piece plays hot jazz, novelty songs, and hits from the 1980's.
The band's lineup includes some of Victoria's most accomplished professional musicians: Reuben Weir (Mark Atkinson Trio) on guitar, Chris Herbst (The Moonshiners) on lapsteel, Avram Devon McCagherty (The Stomp Club) on tenor banjo, Don Cox on tuba, and Matt Pease (Lee Aaron) on drums and washboard.
The Capital City Syncopators is based in Victoria, BC, and appears in festivals, clubs, and speakeasies throughout the region. Check out the “live” page to see an upcoming show or make Tuesday your booze day and catch them every week from 9PM til midnight at Swans Brew Pub ($4.50 pint specials!).
