Nice Verdes — Sally Miller and Jesse Hamilton — are a two-piece act who met during a peace march in Vancouver in 2003. They play a multi-genre mix of melodies, with a style that flows from original sounds to music from the traditions of Latin America.Trading in the conventional life for a life on the road as artists, their organic sounds are inspired by the places they go and the people they meet. Years of relentless touring have seen Nice Verde play a diverse mix of venues and locations in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Latin America, and Europe. They continue to hone their craft by studying in places such as Cuba and Colombia, as well as soaking in any inspirational sounds and songs through their collaborations and encounters with others along the way.
Marina Avros is a singer-songwriter described as “delightful and genuine, not an ounce of vanity…Her music is effortlessly real and present as if she was singing in your kitchen because, well, that’s just a good place to sing!“ She is “wickedly talented with memorable melodies, brilliant guitar rhythms, and one-of-a-kind vocals!” — Ben Dunsmuir
Diane Taylor is a vocalist who plays acoustic bass and piano in various musical styles. She has taught music throughout her life and loves to write and improvise. Diane performs regularly around Victoria with the One Wheel Band and Keys N Frets, and is joining musical forces tonight with Brenda Morie, a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, most recently returned to Canada after performing across the U.S. and Asia for the last 30 years. Brenda will be performing one of her originals that was recorded live on CKUA radio in Alberta with Amos Garrett when she and Amos teamed up. Brenda’s roots were first in Bluegrass and the finger-pickin’ styles of Doc Watson, Chet Atkins and Mississippi John Hurt as well as in Folk and Classic Rock, that is until she released her own CD Meant To Be that features her vocals and flute influenced by Latin, Blues, and Jazz
It’s a triple play tonight…..so don’t miss out!
